Nursery, flower farm, and animal care

Do you love plants and animals? Would you rather be working outside in the fresh air, surrounded by beautiful flowers than sitting in an office staring at a screen all day?

We are a small specialty nursery and cut flower farm in Snohomish looking for a unique, hard-working and trustworthy individual to help care for our animals (chickens, geese, sheep, miniature donkeys, and horses) and assist with the nursery and flower farm.

Several of our animals are rescues and all are pets. We use organic practices and strive to be worthy stewards of our beautiful 5 acres. We value natural health and grow many medicinal and culinary herbs, along with several unique fruits, vegetables, berries, shrubs, and perennials.

We also grow flowers that we sell out of our farm shack on the property and also to florists. We host occasional events on the farm and participate in two vintage markets each year.

The ideal candidate will have:
-a background in horticulture and/or agriculture
-knowledge of PNW plants and horticultural best practices
-cared for and be comfortable around animals, and the occasional splat of manure in the face (**it happens)

• Able to pass a drug test and background check
• Able to provide at least 3 professional references

The position will likely involve, but may not be limited to:

-general garden and property maintenance including, weeding, mowing, edging, spreading compost/mulch, painting, small repairs (did I mention weeding?)
-compost and pasture management
-plant care: watering, organizing, labeling, propagation, seed sowing, planting, harvesting
-bouquet making
-deliveries
-assisting customers
-event set up and participation
-drip irrigation installation and maintenance
-animal care: feeding, cleaning out chicken coop & barns

This will be a physically demanding, all-weather and primarily outdoor position. Must speak English, have your own transportation, a good driving record, and be able to life a minimum of 50 lbs.

This is a seasonal position that will start as part-time in early spring and may evolve into a full-time position during peak season. Compensation will be based on experience and skill set and ranges from $16-20 per hour.
