  • This is one of my all time favorite spring-blooming deciduous shrubs! White flowers (that resemble a lace-cap hydrangea) bloom along the top of the branches in twos, typically in mid-May, followed by red-black fruit. Leaves turn to a deep red in fall. Branching is very horizontal and is wider than tall; about 8' x10' in my garden. Prune to thin and accentuate its horizontal branching habit as needed or after flowering in spring.
