Japanese forest grass is one of my all time favorite grasses! This straight species is green, a bit more upright, and can take more sun that is golden-colored cousins. It is a slow-growing, well-behaved, deciduous grass that arches more horizontally than upright. It works well along pathways, in a mass-planting, or mixed with other perennials toward the front of the border. It prefers well-drained soil and will do well in full sun to shade. Matures at about 1-2′ tall by 3′ wide. It will die back in winter and only needs to be slightly cleaned up in spring. A must have!
