• Early-blooming herbaceous perennial with semi-double, scarlet-red colored blooms on black stems, from spring to early summer with repeat sporadic blooms into October. Makes an excellent cut flower for bouquets and arrangements. Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Dense, compact habit works well at the front of the border. Matures at about 12-24" tall by 12-18" wide.
  • Compact evergreen shrub with rich green foliage and and fragrant white flowers in early spring, which provide a good source of early nectar to pollinators. Use this shrub to add structure and interest to the winter garden and as a cut flower filler. Matures at about 2-3' tall and wide. Plant in part to full sun. Does best with protection from hot afternoon sun. Plant with hellebores, hydrangeas, ferns, hostas, heucheras, and Japanese maples. Prune to thin out as needed after flowering, Photo Courtesy of Sublime Gardens

  • This is one of my all time favorite spring-blooming deciduous shrubs! White flowers (that resemble a lace-cap hydrangea) bloom along the top of the branches in twos, typically in mid-May, followed by red-black fruit. Leaves turn to a deep red in fall. Branching is very horizontal and is wider than tall; about 8' x10' in my garden. Prune to thin and accentuate its horizontal branching habit as needed or after flowering in spring.
